Archive, live room, and noticeboard.

Tracing Board separates permanent conversation from live energy. Serious discussion belongs in the Conversations Archive; informal real-time discussion belongs in the private Live Room; public updates are posted on the Noticeboard.

1 · Permanent

Conversations Archive

The Conversations Archive is the long-term home for serious discussion: replies to papers, sincere questions, study threads, and material future Brethren should be able to search and read later.

Future platform: Discourse at community.tracingboard.org, with member accounts, moderation, categories, and a permanent archive.

Status: planned. The archive will open after account approval, category structure, and moderation workflows are ready.

2 · Private

Live Room

The Live Room is for real-time, informal conversation: post-paper discussion, event energy, voice rooms, quick check-ins, and friendly exchanges that do not need to become permanent records.

Future platform: DGLEA Discord, access-controlled and role-gated. Discord access will be available only after member verification.

Status: private by design. No public Discord widget or open invite will be displayed until access control is in place.

3 · Public

Noticeboard

The Noticeboard is the public-facing way to show that the project is active without exposing private member conversation. It will list upcoming discussions, prompts, and reading group dates.

  • Upcoming paper discussion

First discussion cycle to be announced after the initial paper list is approved.

  • Next live room session

DGLEA Discord live sessions will open after member verification and moderation rules are ready.

  • Recent prompt

How should a Brother distinguish history, tradition, allegory, and personal reflection?

  • Reading group dates

Reading groups will be published here once the first study pathway is confirmed.

Research Centre

Masonic research helps to explain the history of Freemasonry and Masonic protocol. It does more than outline ‘where’ and ‘when’, but also ‘why’ – arguably the most crucial component of Masonic research.

Why there are separate rooms

A shoutbox or live feed can make a site feel alive, but it is not a good permanent record. A future Brother should not have to search a fast-moving chat stream to find a careful answer. For that reason, Tracing Board treats live discussion as useful but secondary.

Anything worth preserving belongs in the Conversations Archive. Anything lively, temporary, or social can belong in the Live Room. Public updates belong on the Noticeboard.

Access-control posture

The public site explains the model. Member-only access will be added later using an access-control layer such as Cloudflare Access, Discourse groups, Discord roles, or a combination of these. Approved users will see the Discord invite, live room details, and deeper member material only after verification.

Expected standards

Members are expected to engage respectfully, avoid politics and sectarian argument, and refrain from inappropriate disclosure. Questions and replies should remain useful to the Brother who reads them later.
