Why there are separate rooms
A shoutbox or live feed can make a site feel alive, but it is not a good permanent record. A future Brother should not have to search a fast-moving chat stream to find a careful answer. For that reason, Tracing Board treats live discussion as useful but secondary.
Anything worth preserving belongs in the Conversations Archive. Anything lively, temporary, or social can belong in the Live Room. Public updates belong on the Noticeboard.
Access-control posture
The public site explains the model. Member-only access will be added later using an access-control layer such as Cloudflare Access, Discourse groups, Discord roles, or a combination of these. Approved users will see the Discord invite, live room details, and deeper member material only after verification.
Expected standards
Members are expected to engage respectfully, avoid politics and sectarian argument, and refrain from inappropriate disclosure. Questions and replies should remain useful to the Brother who reads them later.
